SGXcafe in 2017

Review of 2016

2016 have been a year with its ups and downs for SGXcafe. At one point, it is faced with the possibility of shutting down. However, with the support of many users, it managed to march on. I truly appreciate each and every one of you for using SGXcafe especially those whom also contributed financially and/or by sharing about SGXcafe.

Looking back at the articles of 2016, I realized we have added a wide range of features to SGXcafe.

1) Make SGXcafe available as an app on iOS and Andriod.

2) Enable users to share their portfolio if they want to, manage multiple portfolios in one account, track cash balances and override dividends computation manually.

3) There are many other features including Stock Screener, Technical Charts, Cafe/Forum, Mini Game, Dividend Strength, etc.

Many of these features are suggested by users. SGXcafe would not be the same without you taking the time and effort to give so many awesome suggestions. Please continue to do so actively!

Of course, along the way, bugs and errors were occasionally introduced into SGXcafe. In 2017, I cannot guarantee that SGXcafe will be perfect, but I can guarantee that if you report it, I will fix it in one way or another 🙂

SGXcafe Focus in 2017

As more and more features are added to SGXcafe, it is becoming more cluttered especially for mobile users. Even I do not enjoy accessing SGXcafe via mobile as much, therefore one main focus in 2017 would be to improve mobile engagement. Right now, the page views session for mobile is only half of desktop. The goal is to have them on par. I hope to achieve it by doing the following:

1) Simplify the user interface on mobile by removing or better integrating (e.g. hiding) features.

2) Redesign features so that it is more natural on mobile. Many features were currently designed for desktop and simply forced-fitted into the mobile version.

Of course, I will work on any other features suggested or that I thought of along the way as long as it would help users in their investment journey.

Lastly, I would like to wish all users of SGXcafe a happy and successful 2017!
