Subscribe to RSS feed How to Install StocksCafe App

Regularly, users would independently request for an iOS app to be built for StocksCafe. Due to limited resources, it is unlikely I can satisfy this request in the near future. However, a recent feature request made by a Friend of StocksCafe actually made me realize that I could create a pseudo app for StocksCafe.

It is to simply create a shortcut (which looks like an app) on your phone that will start your phone's browser and bring you to your chosen StocksCafe page.

The steps to install this "app" are:

For iOS
1) Open Safari. Yes, it must be Safari and not other browsers.
2) Go to your favorite page in stocks.cafe. This will be the startup page.
3) Select on the share icon (likely the middle icon at the bottom).
4) On the row where "Add to Reading List" and "Add Bookmark" is, look for "Add to Home Screen" and select it. You might have to scroll right to find it.
5) Edit the name to "StocksCafe" or "SC" or whatever you would like to call this app.
6) Select Add (on the top right).
7) You will see the new shiny icon on your home screen just like any other mobile app.

For Android
1) Open Chrome. Yes, it must be Chrome and not other browsers.
2) Go to your favorite page in stocks.cafe. This will be the startup page.
3) Select the three dots on the top right.
4) Select "Add to Home screen".
5) Edit the name to "StocksCafe" or "SC" or whatever you would like to call this app.
6) Select "Add".
7) You will see the new shiny icon on your home screen like any other mobile app.

I hope you will enjoy this new "app" :)

Happy investing!

p.s.: I know that there is an Android app for StocksCafe in Play Store but I actually recommend this because you can choose your startup page and also name it whatever you like!

evankoh - Great! I recently updated the icon to StocksCafe logo. Does it update automatically for you? Do you see a single letter S as icon or StocksCafe logo as icon?

StocksCafe API and Customizable Tax Rates
StocksCafe API Note: StocksCafe API is now deprecated and not available anymore. As StocksCafe continues to grow in term of the number of features and complexity, it is time to shift from Monolithic Architecture to Microservices Architecture in order to maintain flexibility and scalability among other advantages. In laymen terms, this simply means that instead of StocksCafe being one giant chunk of ...

New Exchange Added: Support for Tokyo Stock Exchange!
I am happy to share that StocksCafe can now fully support Tokyo Stock Exchange! You should be able to use all the features that are available for Tokyo as well. This brings the total number of supported exchanges to six (SGX, HKEX, KLSE, USX, LSE and TSE!) One thing to note though is that I was unable to locate good English sources for news and blogs that covers the Tokyo market. So if you know of ...

Renewed Tool: Risk Manager
In this article, I would like to share a renewed tool, Risk Manager. As an investor, understanding your portfolio risks is of paramount importance. Using this tool, you can see the changes to various portfolio risk metrics (i.e. Beta, Value At Risk and Expected Shortfall) after you buy (or sell) a specific amount (defaulted to SGD 5,000 but you can change it here) of selected stocks. Why focus on Risk? ...
