Subscribe to RSS feed Shares Quantity Now Supports Decimal Values!

Firstly, I would like to apologize to users who were affected by this "migration" last night and seeing errors on many StocksCafe pages. I was making a seemingly simple change, but is actually more complicated. I was making a database change for the field "shares quantity" from only accepting whole numbers (i.e. integers) to allow decimal values (i.e. floats). As integers and floats are considered different beasts (at least in Java), StocksCafe's code needed to be significantly changed since "shares quantity" is used in numerous places.

It should be fine now, but please report if you see any issues.

The main motivation for this change was because it was requested by Friends of StocksCafe, and their reasoning is that with robo-advisor and regular share-buying schemes, partial shares are often being transacted. With the growing popularity of such approaches, it is only reasonable that StocksCafe also starts to support decimal values for shares quantity to keep up with times :)

Thank you all for continuously helping StocksCafe improve!

Happy investing!

I'll let her tell you about her experience using SGXcafe. --- Unlike Evan, I have no interest ...

What to buy next? - Part 2
There exists hundreds of stocks in SGX and deciding what to buy next is not an easy task. In part one of the "What to buy next?" article, I shared a few tools in SGXcafe designed to help me with this problem, including a new screener tool, Screener added to SGXcafe about 3 weeks ago. Screener was met with very positive response and high usage, and I received comments on how useful it was and requests ...

Faster Than Before!
Slow Loading Due to my lack of experience with infrastructure configuration, for the most part of last week, the experience of using StocksCafe has been unpleasantly slow. I apologize for that and am thankful for your patience. Truth be told, it was rather stressful for me. I personally hate to use slow websites so I was waking up at ungodly hours (read: 4am) to configure the servers so as to impact ...
