I just realized that it has been almost a month since I last wrote in here! I wanted to drop a quick note so that people know that StocksCafe is still in active development :)
Apart from all the bug fixes and touch ups here and there, I have been spending most of my energy on upgrading the infrastructure of StocksCafe. Previously, everything about StocksCafe is basically packed into one server. As one server is easier to maintain, I tried to refrain from going beyond one by doubling the size of the server. Obviously, there is a limit to that. StocksCafe would sometimes crash or become extremely slow during peak hours due to the different processes fighting for resources (i.e. CPU and memory).
As such, I spent the last week working on splitting components into different servers so that there will be less fighting. Now, there are
four servers working together to keep StocksCafe up and running! This will not only enable StocksCafe to be more stable, but also be more prepared for future growth.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you encounter any issues, especially in relation to crashes or very slow responses.

How Much is a Stock Worth?
Recently, I read a book, A Random Walk Down Wall Street by Burton G. Malkiel. In the book, he discussed two ways to valuate a stock - The firm-foundation theory and the castle-in-the-air theory. The firm-foundation theory assumes that each stock has a true value which is equal to the present value of all its future dividends. It is likely that you have heard something similar because this approach ...
