As an investor, we often want to believe that we can pick stocks that can beat the market.

So I made a game that allows us to test if we could actually pick stocks that can beat the market.

The idea is simple: you will be given facts of an anonymous stock on a historical date. Based on the information, you will choose whether to invest or ignore that stock. Once you have made the decision, SGXcafe will immediately tell you if you are correct on the next screen.

Of course, I do not claim that this simplified game will be an accurate measure of your stock-picking capabilities, but I do hope that this game can assist you in testing or refining whatever strategies that you may have and help you become a better investor!

More importantly, I hope you will have fun playing!
It is, after all, a game :)

Happy gaming!

p.s.: I will continue to improve the game. So feel free to share with me your thoughts. Also, if you have ideas on other types of investing-related games that can help us become better investors, I am all ears.

p.p.s.: The beta version of this game was pre-released to Friends of SGXcafe. All scores as well as the leaders' board will be reset as I made some tweaks to the algorithm and question selection. Thank you to all who provided feedback!

The following are recent updates which I believe deserve to be highlighted: 1. Market Update Emails Market update emails is one of the more popular features in StocksCafe. In the past, it was catered solely for the Singapore market thus over the weekend, ...

A Quick Update
It has been a week since the survey. Thank you to all who responded to the survey. The survey results are quite open to interpretation. If we simply look at the absolute number of people willing to pay to keep SGXcafe going, the logical choice would be to close SGXcafe as it is far from sufficient. However, if we look at the percentage of people willing to pay, it is quite encouraging as 42% of the ...

We are now StocksCafe!
Over the weekend, I have successfully migrated everything to the new domain, stocks.cafe, with upgraded software and hardware. However, the migration over the weekend did not proceed as smooth as I had hoped. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. On hindsight, I should not have tried to upgrade everything at the same time. There were numerous bugs and errors that I had to fix throughout the weekend. ...
