Invisible Updates

I

On average, I spend one to two hours a day working on SGXcafe. Sometimes, the features added are large and obvious. At other times, they are essentially invisible to most users. Today, I would like to share a few “invisible” feature updates that have been made recently.

1) Desktop view on mobile phones
As mobile phone screens become larger, there have been requests to view the standard desktop view of SGXcafe even on mobile. Hence, I have added the ability for users to explicitly choose the view they prefer irregardless of the device they are using. Simply scroll to the bottom of the page and choose click on “Mobile View” or “Desktop View” to toggle between the two.

2) Current and past positions in the stock page
Currently, if you go to individual stock pages, you can see past transactions on the right hand column if you are on desktop. There have been requests to see more details, and I decided to incorporate them. If you are logged in, there is now a new tab named after your username for each stock page (e.g. DBS). This tab currently holds your screeners, scorers, as well as current and past positions for that particular stock. I plan to add more personalized details in future, so feel free to let me know what other information would be interesting to be added there.

3) Include funds and ETFs in auto suggestion
On the main page of SGXcafe (desktop version), there is a search function where suggestions will be made as you type. Previously, funds and many ETFs would not be suggested, but I have since fixed it to make the function more comprehensive. For example, previously, ABF SPORE BOND INDEX FUND ETF would not have been suggested.

I hope that these tweaks, while small, will make using SGXcafe more enjoyable and useful.

Happy investing!
