It offers wireless wide area network products, such as point-to-point Lynx products that are primarily used by wireless operators to connect their base stations to other base stations and wireless local area network products. The company provides wireless solutions for the mobile enterprise, security and surveillance, last mile access, voice and data backhaul, public hot spots, and metropolitan area networks. It sells its products through distributors, value-added resellers, product integrators, and original equipment manufacturers. Proxim Corp. was formerly known as Western Multiplex Corp. and changed its name to Proxim Corp. in April, 2000. The company was founded in 1979 and is based in San Jose, California. As of June 11, 2005, Proxim Corp. filed a voluntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
