Its Consumer segment provides private-label credit cards, personal loans, bank cards, auto loans and leases, mortgages, debt consolidation, home equity loans, deposit and other savings products, and small and medium enterprise lending. The company?s Real Estate segment offers capital and investment solutions, including fixed and floating rate mortgages for new acquisitions or re-capitalizations of commercial real estate; invests in and provides restructuring financing for portfolios of commercial mortgage loans, limited partnerships, and tax-exempt bonds; and owns and operates real estate properties. Its Energy Financial Services segment provides structured equity, debt, leasing, partnership financing, project finance, and commercial finance to the energy industry. The company?s GE Capital Aviation Services segment is involved in commercial aircraft financing and leasing; spare engine leasing, airport and airline consulting, and spare parts financing and management services, as well as helicopter leasing activities. As of December 31, 2014, this segment owned approximately 1,443 commercial aircraft. The company was formerly known as General Electric Credit Corporation and changed its name to General Electric Capital Corporation in November 1987.
